The Klitschko brothers are among the most famous and recognizable Ukrainians, and Wladimir releases NFT collection to help support relief efforts during the Ukraine war
Global Support for Ukraine through NFTs
Over the last two weeks, the #Ukrainewar or #Russianinvasion has been the top news topic worldwide, and it doesn’t matter what your sentiments are about the current situation, there’s no denying that the people that are losing the most are innocent civilians that have nothing to do with the war.
Amazingly, the Web3, NFT, and metaverse-world have come together to support the Ukrainian fight against Russian aggression in a way that’s never been seen before, and it is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
People are investing in NFTs to donate proceeds to aid the fight without considering the future of related projects. On 2 March 2022, an NFT of the Ukrainian flag was sold for an impressive $6.75 million. Additionally, NFT-related donations have poured in from Web3 enthusiasts worldwide, and it’s estimated that as of 8 March 2022, the total crypto-related contributions towards Ukraine have surpassed $50 million.
The overwhelming support by the NFT community has proven that there’s a considerable amount of depth to this community. NFTs are more than flimsy cash grabs many NFT skeptics try to claim; the NFT community is made up of real people trying to make the most of the Web3 economy. It’ll be exciting to see how much more support the NFT community offers to Ukraine during March.
